Hello, I'm Stevie Curran, and I'm proud to serve as the Councillor for Dalkeith and Danderhall.
I was born in Edinburgh in 1972 and grew up in Danderhall. Like many local people, my roots are firmly in this community. I attended Danderhall Primary School before moving on to Dalkeith High School, and the values I learned growing up here (hard work, respect and looking out for one another) have stayed with me throughout my life.
Most of my career has been spent working in the public sector, where I've had the privilege of helping people and supporting public services. Alongside that, I'm also a self-employed taxi driver. I meet people from all walks of life, hear their stories and listen to what's important to them. Those conversations keep me grounded and remind me that local politics is about real people and real lives.
I became a councillor in 2017 because I believe local communities deserve someone who is visible, approachable and prepared to stand up for them. Whether it's helping a resident solve a problem, supporting local organisations or campaigning for improvements across Dalkeith, Danderhall and Midlothian, I'm committed to doing my best for the people I represent.
I believe in listening first, working collaboratively and being honest about what can be achieved. Not every problem has a quick solution, but I will always work hard, keep people informed and do everything I can to make a positive difference.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope you'll find it a useful source of information about my work in the community. If you have a question, a concern or an idea that could improve our area, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd be delighted to hear from you.
